The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Family is a great way to spend two days afloat as a family with no prior experience. This price is based on 1 adult and 2 children. (Please see alternative product for 2 adults and 1 child.)
This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence available to those 16 and over (ICC).
It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed and collision regulations. The course can be taken at an inland or a coastal location.
During the two days we aim to cover the following;
This practical introduction to powerboating will provide you with the basic skills necessary to operate a powerboat safely and confidently in coastal waters. You will begin by developing your low speed close quarter boat handling skills before being introduced to driving at planing speed. You will also cover basic engine maintenance, chart work, collision regulations, tides and weather
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU BRING A PASSPORT PHOTO ALONG WITH YOU WHEN YOU ATTEND THIS COURSE SO THAT YOU CAN BE ISSUED WITH YOUR CERTIFICATE ON COMPLETION.

The maximum number of participants is 3.
We require minimum one participating adult (18+) in each session, each session must also include 2 children between 12-16yrs

Plas Menai will provide all necessary personal protective clothing including waterproofs, buoyancy aids and helmets.
Please bring with you;
- Suitable warm clothing to wear (under our free to use waterproofs)
- Hat, gloves, sun screen
- Wellies / shoes - that may get wet
- 50p for locker
If a family session isn't suitable, we also run both RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2 courses for children.
